The Avissawella High Court barred the foreign travel of suspected criminal Ravindu Sanka alias ‘Booru Moona’ who recently fled Police custody at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake.

The travel ban was imposed after taking the submissions presented by the Western Province South Police Division into account.

‘Booru Moona’, who is accused of the gunshot murder of a restaurant owner in Hanwella in December of last year (2022), was arrested at the Airport on 24 February while seeking to board a flight to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, using a forged passport.

However, he thereafter fled Police custody with the help of two Buddhist monks.

At the time of his arrest, ‘Booru Moona’ had confessed to taking shelter in a house located in Millaniya, Bandaragama.

Meanwhile, a serving member of the Navy, his wife, and four others are now under arrest for aiding and abetting “Booru Muna’s” escape.
