The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has urged the public to verify the TRCSL registration of mobile phones when purchasing them.
TRCSL Compliance Director – Ms. Menaka Pathirana says that this can be easily double checked by sending an SMS with any mobile phone.
All the public has to do is type IMEI<space> before entering the 15-digit IMEI number of the relevant device and sending the SMS to 1909.
