Trishaw crashes into police sergeants injuring one

A three-wheeler crashed into two police sergeants who were recording cases of road traffic violations last afternoon (26), the Bandaragama Police said.

The victims met with the accident near the Gammanpila Lake in Bandaragama.

The Bandaragama Police said that one officer was injured and the other officer fell into the lake.

The injured police officer and the driver of the three-wheeler were admitted to the Bandaragama District Hospital and were later transferred to the Panadura Base Hospital.

Police said that the police motorcycle was also damaged in the accident.

The two police sergeants are attached to the Panadura Traffic Division.

Investigations revealed that the three-wheeler coming from Bandaragama had gone across the road and overturned the motorcycle crashing into the officers.

The mobile phone of the police sergeant who fell into the lake is also missing.

Police suspect that the accident may have occurred due to a sudden illness of the three-wheeler driver.
