The Health Ministry said that two anesthetic drugs that have led to complications in patients have been discontinued.
Ministry’s Additional Secretary Dr. Saman Ratnayake said that steps have been taken to import another anesthetic drug instead.
He said that the stock of medicines will arrive in the country tomorrow (13).
The attention of the health authorities was drawn to these anesthetic drugs following the death of several women who underwent surgery after being administered with these anesthetic drugs in the recent past.
