Two underworld figures, K. Dimuthu Chaturanga (26) and Dinesh Sharman (48), wanted for multiple murders and illegal activities, have been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Dubai and brought to Sri Lanka.
Public Security Minister Tiran Alles confirmed that the suspects were escorted back to Sri Lanka early this morning (12) by a team of four senior CID officers. They arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake on a SriLankan Airlines flight at around 5:10 a.m.
The suspects are identified as 48-year-old Kaludura Dinesh Samantha de Silva, alias “Babi,” from Nugegoda, Colombo, and 26-year-old Kankanamlage Dimuthu Chaturanga Perera, alias “Samitpura Chathu,” from Samitpura, Mattakkuliya. They were apprehended while hiding in Dubai.
Dimuthu Chaturanga Perera will be handed over to the Colombo Crime Division (CCD), while Dinesh Samantha de Silva will be handed over to the Homicide and Organized Crime Investigation Division.
