The contract to build the bridge was secured by a private company on 2019 May 22 and has cost the state Rs. 59.8 million.

However, Uva Provincial Director of Road Development Authority – Mr. T.K.M. Galappatti has said that the work on the bridge is yet to be completed and funds for the construction will be obtained next year.
