A student pursing a computer course in the Open University, Nawala was arrested for attending the lectures conducted by the Easter attack suicide bombers, the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court yesterday (21).
The suspect is a resident of Gampola. Police informed the court that he was arrested after phone records confirmed that he was involved in lectures on extremist content and weapons training held in Hambantota for two days in 2018.
Police said the suspect had attended suicide bomber Zahran Hashim’s lectures and weapons training in preparation for the Easter Sunday attack.
The court ordered that the suspect be remanded pending the Attorney General’s instructions .
The Election Commission says that an ‘e-service’ has been made available to assist postal voters in locating their designated voting location and certifying officer.
