Undergrad drowns in Rajarata University pool

A first year student of the Management Faculty of Rajarata University has drowned in the swimming pool located at Mihintale Campus.

The victim had gone swimming with five others studying in the same faculty at around 5.00 pm yesterday (27).

The Mihintale Police said that the student drowned when he tried to get into the water from the deep-end of the swimming pool.

The victim was identified as 21-year-old Murugadas Thilakshana, a resident of Kokuvil in Batticaloa.

The body has been placed at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital for a post-mortem examination which is scheduled to be conducted today (28).
