An undergraduate of the Peradeniya University has been killed after being hit by a train in the Penideniya area, Peradeniya Police said.
The victim, a resident of Wadduwa, was a third year student of the Law Department.
He had reportedly been walking on the railway tracks while wearing a pair of earphones when he was struck by the Nawalapitiya-Kandy train, police say.
Further investigations are underway.
