Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National List MP and former State Minister Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle has announced her support for Sajith Premadasa in the upcoming presidential election.
Her decision was made public after a meeting with Premadasa earlier yesterday.
Additionally, the United Left Front has officially decided to back Premadasa for the presidency.
The decision was reached during a Central Committee meeting where 36 members voted in favor of supporting Premadasa, while 16 opposed it.
The party’s General Secretary, T.A.D. Sirimal, confirmed this outcome.
Former MP and President’s Counsel Dr. Jayampathi Wickramaratne, known for his role in drafting the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, currently leads the United Left Front.
