A group of undergraduates at the Kelaniya University commenced a protest today (March 25) in front of the university administrative building over the sudden death of a fourth year student last night (March 24).
The deceased, a final year student of the Geography Department named Niroshana Lakmal, had suddenly started to get convulsions at around 10pm.
Protesting undergraduates alleged that the hospitalisation of the student in question was delayed due to the absence of an ambulance facility or other vehicle in the university premises.
They accuse that the negligence of the university administration had led to the untimely death of the student.
