US Senator for Maryland Chris Van Hollen has arrived in Sri Lanka.
In an X post (tweet), US Ambassador Julie Chung said that she is honoured to welcome Senator Hollen who is a longtime friend of Sri Lanka and has worked hard to strengthen the bonds between the two countries.
“This week, the Senator and I will explore Sri Lanka’s economic recovery, discuss avenues for enhanced partnership, and deepen our joint commitment to upholding democratic ideals,” she said.
The Senator’s father, Chris Van Hollen Senior, was the US Ambassador to Sri Lanka from 1972 to 1976.
