USS Michael Murphy visits Colombo Port

The USS Michael Murphy, an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer of the United States Navy, arrived at the port of Colombo today (23) on a formal visit. 

The Sri Lanka Navy welcomed the 155-meter-long vessel, which is manned by a crew of 323 and commanded by Commander Jonathan B. Greenwald, in compliance with naval traditions.

Commander Greenwald met with Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe, Commander Western Naval Area, at the Western Naval Command Headquarters. The meeting concluded with an exchange of mementoes.

During their stay, crew members of the USS Michael Murphy are expected to visit various tourist attractions in Sri Lanka. The ship is scheduled to depart on 26th July.

No change in Litro Gas prices for December

The Litro Gas Company says that the prices of its domestic LP Gas cylinders will remain unchanged for the month of December 2024.

Chairman of Litro Gas – Channa Gunawardena stated that the company decided to keep the prices of LP gas cylinders unchanged despite the price hike in the global market, in order to provide relief to the consumers.

Accordingly, the prices of Litro LP gas domestic gas cylinders will remain unchanged as follows:

12.5kg – Rs. 3,690
05kg – Rs. 1,482
2.3kg – Rs. 694

Tomorrow’s Parliamentary session to continue until 9.30 pm

It has been decided during the party leaders’ meeting to conduct tomorrow’s (Dec. 04) parliamentary session until 09.30 pm.

Accordingly, the adjournment debate regarding the disaster situation caused by the recent adverse weather conditions will be held from 05.30 pm – 09.30 pm tomorrow.
