The Vasavilan–Palaly road, which had remained closed for 34 years due to the civil conflict, was officially reopened to the public this morning (April 10), following persistent demands from local residents.

The road, which passes through a high-security zone and military quarters, has been reopened under strict security regulations to ensure public safety and national security.

A notice board displaying several regulations has been installed at the road’s entrance, warning that violators will face legal action.

As per the new guidelines, the road will be open daily from 6:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Travelers must be able to verify their identity at any time, and walking or cycling along the route is strictly prohibited. Only passenger buses and light vehicles will be permitted, while heavy vehicles (except buses) are banned.

Additionally, stopping, turning, parking, photography, or video recording along the road is not allowed under any circumstances.

A maximum speed limit of 40 km/h has been enforced.
