The decision related to the petition filed in the Court of Appeal challenging the Parliament Membership of State Minister Diana Gamage is scheduled to be announced today (06).
The petition said that Ms.Gamage is a citizen of the UK and therefore, is ineligible to hold a parliamentary position according to the Constitution.
Petitioner civil society activist Oshala Herath requested the court to issue an order invalidating her position as an MP.
The petition in which the Immigration Controller and the Attorney General were named as respondents was heard before a two-Judge bench.
Accordingly, the verdict is scheduled to be announced today.
