Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa today severely criticized the government in Parliament today (Dec. 03), over the use of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) to suppress social media freedom, despite pledging to repeal the Act before sweeping into power.
“Is this fair to engage in a media crackdown using the Prevention of Terrorism Act? You received immense support from social media in securing such a significant mandate. Yet now, social media activists are being targeted under the same Act you once vowed to repeal. You must walk your talk,” he said.
