The Colombo Magistrate’s Court issued a warrant today (19) ordering the police to arrest MP Wimal Weerawansa and produce him in court.
The warrant was issued since the MP failed to appear in Court today when a case against him was taken up for hearing.
The case was filed against the MP for causing inconvenience to the public by blocking the roads and protesting in front of the United Nations office in Colombo during the visit of United Nations Human Rights Commissioner Prince Zeid bin Ra’ad Hussein in 2016.
The Magistrate ordered that the case be postponed until September 11.
