The wife of a regional politician in Beruwala has been hospitalised after being stabbed.
The victim is the wife of Mr. Samitha Kawiratne, a former member of the Beruwala Pradeshiya Sabha.
She has been admitted to the Emergency Unit of the Kalutara Teaching Hospital after being stabbed at her own shop in the Hettimulla area of Beruwala.
Police have arrested a suspect along with a 5-inch knife used for the stabbing. The suspect is also a resident of the Hettimulla area.
It is said that the attack had taken place due to a personal dispute.
