Xi – Biden to meet on sidelines of G20 Summit (Video)

The Presidents of China and the US will have a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Summit which is to be held in Bali, Indonesia.

Speaking at the regular press conference in Beijing today (11), Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian said that the G20 Bali Summit is the first multilateral summit the top Chinese leader will attend after the successful conclusion of the 20th CPC National Congress.

He added : “China views and grows its relations with the US in accordance with the three principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation as proposed by President Xi Jinping, and calls for establishing the right way forward for bilateral relations. At the same time, we will firmly defend our sovereignty, security and development interests. It is important that the US work together with China to properly manage differences, advance mutually beneficial cooperation, avoid misunderstanding and miscalculation, and bring China-US relations back to the right track of sound and steady development.”

“The steady growth of China-US relations serves the interests of both sides and meets the expectations of the world. We hope that the US will work with China in the spirit of mutual respect, and play a responsible role in safeguarding world stability and development,” he further noted.

In addition, Chinese President Xi Jinping is to also attend this year’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Thailand.

Mr. Zhao further noted that the Chinese leader will also hold formal talks with the Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.
