Tis the Cherry blossom season! (Pics)

As spring dawns on the Northern hemisphere, nature awakening filled with new life and vigour after the cold and hard months of winter.

In China, the season of cherry blossoms is already underway, heralding fresher and warmer days. Cherry trees bloom into boughs filled with white, pale pink or dark pink blossom, nodding in the Spring breeze, and filling the surroundings with sweet fragrance.

Cherry blossoms, which are known as Sakura are mostly famous in Japan and the Sakura viewing or 'Hanami' with family and friends is a festival of delight. The Sakura festival at the famous Yuyuantan garden in Beijing too, is a much awaited event while local Chinese throng to nearby parks to enjoy the blossoms signifying the spring revelry.

Cherry blossoms in China are followed by a revelry of blossom including Apricot, and plum which are equally breathtaking and mesmerizing.

In Japan, the Cherry blossom is a symbol of beauty as well as the fragility of life. In China however, it is a symbol of feminine power and beauty.
