Many have been stuck in Western Province after being unable to return to their hometowns due to travel restrictions imposed as anti-Covid-19 measures.

Measures to send back such persons commenced today (02).

Nearly 360 persons, including pregnant ladies, long-term patients and small children stuck in the Kelaniya Police Division, were sent home under this programme under the direction of Senior DIG of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon.

After initial health inspections, they were boarded into SLTB busses parked at the Vijaya Kumaratunga ground in Peliyagoda.

The number of passengers in these busses were restricted to 35.
