The programme is currently implemented at a host of centres in the Western province where the largest number of cases are being recorded. Authorities have expressed hope in expanding the programme to other provinces in the future, after receiving further vaccine stocks.
According to statistics of the Department of the Government Information Department, 68,338 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine have been administered to the local population by 8.30pm yesterday (11).
In addition, 11,338 Sputnik V vaccines have been administered so far as well.
In addition to vaccinations, PCR testing has been ramped up in the province as well.
However, experts emphasize that the public not to depend entirely on the vaccine but to continue recommended health practices such as washing hands, wearing facemasks and maintaining social distancing.
