Lotus flower carvings linked to Kiribathgoda sect, added to Ruwanweli Seya Vahalkada (Pics)

The appearance of previously non-existent lotus flower carvings at the Vahalkada (frontispiece) of the main entrance to the Ruwanweli Seya stupa, has sparked a discussion among Archeological field experts, 'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns.
It is said that these carvings closely resemble lotus flower carvings seen at a well known Temple belonging to a sect in the Kiribathgoda area.
Rumours cite that the carvings have been added as this sect had provided financial assistance for renovations.
However, scaffolding is now in place for renovations of the second Vahalkada as well and the relevant photos are shown below :
