'Sandahiru Seya' handed over to the Buddha Sasana (Pics)

The 'Sandahiru Seya' built in Anuradhapura, was ceremoniously unveiled and handed over to the Buddha Sasana yesterday (18) under the auspices of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
A host of distinguished guests including the Maha Sangha, ministers, MPs, members of the tri-forces as well as widows of war heroes and disabled war heroes were present during the ceremony. 

The 'Sandahiru Seya', which is a  tribute to the war heroes who lost their lives during the nearly three decades long war in Sri Lanka and to symbolise the dawn of peace, stands 282 feet and 6 inches tall, with the Chudamanikya. The stupa has a circumference of 801 feet.
