A host of distinguished guests including the Maha Sangha, ministers, MPs, members of the tri-forces as well as widows of war heroes and disabled war heroes were present during the ceremony.
The 'Sandahiru Seya', which is a tribute to the war heroes who lost their lives during the nearly three decades long war in Sri Lanka and to symbolise the dawn of peace, stands 282 feet and 6 inches tall, with the Chudamanikya. The stupa has a circumference of 801 feet.
