The Chinese couples were welcomed by the rhythmic beats of traditional drums (Magul Bera) and the recital of Jayamangala Gatha.
Thereafter the traditional Poruwa Ceremony was conducted.
Some of the brides wore traditional Sri Lankan attire, while others wore traditional Chinese and Western attire.
The celebration included many traditional Sri Lankan and Chinese performances which was compiled by Sri Lanka’s prominent dance teacher Rajini Selvanayagam.
Her pupils performed the dance recitals and the Jayamangala Gatha.
Several of these couples are scheduled to tour many places of interest within the country during their stay.
The marriage certificates of the couples were handed over during the ceremony by Ministers Patali Champika Ranawaka, John Amaratunge and Rajitha Senaratne together with the Chinese Ambassador Yi Xianliang.
The event was jointly organized by Sri Lanka's Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development and the Chinese embassy in Sri Lanka.
