Kora, a Belgian Malinois, was eight years old and had served in Peliyagoda, Ampara, Batticaloa and Bandarawela areas and was attached to the Hatton Police Division at the time of his demise.
Kora had assisted in apprehending many suspects wanted in connection with several crimes, and had been instrumental in detecting many Adams Peak pilgrims who were in the possession of drugs, during his time of service in Hatton.
According to a police officer from Hatton, Kora had died while he was being taken to the Kandy, Asgiriya Official Canine Headquarters for a training programme.
