Complaints had been made to the appeal board by several associations including the Bodybuilding Association, Netball, Wrestling, Gymnastics, Hockey, Swimming, Cycling, Archery and Boxing Associations and the Appeals Board had carried out investigations and submitted the reports to the Sports Minister.
The Appeals Committee had examined all the evidence and documents pertaining to the complaint and had submitted their observations, conclusions and recommendations to the Sports Minister. The Appeal Committee in their report identifies if any official of a relevant association has violated the 1973 No. 25 Sports Ordinance making it easy for the Sports Minister to identify the perpetrator and enforce punishment.
There are allegations that in certain instances, although the Sports Minister had approved the committee reports, the relevant officials had failed to take further action.
The reason being that some of the issues that have arisen within the sports associations is due to the mistakes of officials. In areas where the Appeals Committee had identified the issues that had arisen within sports associations due to the mistakes of officials, their names and details have been given in the reports. This could also be another reason for the delay in meting out punishment.
