Will work with SL if invited - Hathurusinghe

Bangladesh coach and former Sri Lankan cricketer - Chandika Hathurusinghe says that he has no intention to stay with Bangladesh forever and he would absolutely come to work with Sri Lanka if the SLC invites him to.

Hathurusingha was speaking during an interview with the weekend newspaper - ’Divaina Irida Sangrahaya.’

"I will absolutely come [if SLC asks me to]," he said. "I am in this position today because of all the things I learned playing cricket in Sri Lanka. After I learned everything in Sri Lanka for about 20 years, I went to Australia and learned things there as well. But if Sri Lanka invites me at any time, I will happily come back to do something for the country,” he had said.

He has added that he was contacted during the days of the Sidath Wettamuny-led interim committee and was asked several details including when his contract would end and how much he is paid but no invitation was extended.

Finally, he has said, "In 2019, I want to bring the Bangladesh team to where Sri Lanka were in 1996," Hathurusinghe told Divaina. "That's my target. Whatever happens, I'm not going to ask to stay with Bangladesh forever. I will not resign either. I am prepared to leave even tomorrow if I'm not allowed to do what I want, but there's no such situation at the present."
