Although the election should be held before May 31 according to sporting regulations, the FFSL has requested for a grace period stating that they are required to hold the election as per the new constitution of the FIFA.

FFSL's new draft constitution formulated accordingly has already been submitted to the Sports ministry.

Subsequently, the Sports Ministry DG - Attorney-At-Law Amal Edirisooriya has informed the FFSL to hold the election after the constitution is passed.
