Mosaddek named in squad against Sri Lanka

All-rounder Mosaddek Hossain has been named in the squad for the first match of the two-match Test series between the touring Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Naeem Hasan has been named in the squad to replace Hassan, who has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, according to Bangladesh media reports. Mosaddek Hossain has been included to bolster the batting lineup.

Accordingly, the Bangladesh squad has increased to 17.

26-year-old Mosaddek, did not play in any international or domestic matches due to an injury sustained during a first-class match and last played in a Test match in 2019 against Afghanistan in Chittagong.

He has only played in just three Tests and has 164 runs at an average of 41.00.

However, his performance in the Dhaka Premier League domestic tournament gave Mosaddek a chance to rejoin the squad.

The Sri Lankan team will leave for Bangladesh on the 8th to participate in the World Test Championship and will play a training match on the 11th and 12th.

The first match of the tournament is scheduled to start on May 15 in Chittagong.
