Marija bids adieu to Kandy rugby (Pics)

Star ruggerite Fazil Marija put up a final show for home crowds at the Nittawela ground in Kandy.

The 33-year-old former Sri Lanka national sevens and fifteen’s skipper announced last November that he will be hanging up his boots after this year’s Rugby season.

Marija had a majestic send-off at Nittawela as he scored a hat-trick of tries, boosting Kandy Sports Club to be unbeaten champions of the Dialog Rugby league, defeating Havelock Sports Club 30-28.

As a special gesture, the stand on the right side of the Kandy Sports Club clubhouse, which was dedicated to Marija, was ceremoniously opened by the legendary player in the presence of his family members, the team and the Kandy Sports Club management.
