12-member squad announced for Netball World Cup

The Selection Committee of Netball has announced the final 12-member squad for the Senior Netball World Cup which is scheduled to be held in South Africa next August.

The Netball Federation earlier named a preliminary squad for the World Cup and that squad underwent basic training under national netball coach Thilaka Jinadasa and N. Prasadi.

The participation of Sri Lankan player Tarjani Shivalingam, who is playing in the Victoria Premier League tournament in Australia, has become uncertain and if she is not able to join the squad, Imesha Perera would join the team.

The squad has been selected by the Selection Committee chaired by Damayanthi Jayathilaka and it also includes Thisangi Kodituvukku and Chamika Jayasekera.

Imesha Perera, Rukshala Hapuarachchi, Chamudi Wickramaratne and Tharushi Navodya, who were in the 16-member squad named earlier, have not been included in the final squad.

The squad:

Thishala Algama, Semini Alwis, Gayanjali Amarawansa, Rashmi Divyanjali, Dulangi Wannithilaka, Malmi Hettiarachchi, Gayani Dissanayake, Chathurangi Jayasuriya, Gayathri Kaushalya, Tarjani Shivalingam, Bhashini Yoshitha de Silva, Shanika Perera. Additional players: Imesha Perera, Rukshala Hapuarachchi, Chamudi Wickramaratne, Tarushi Navodya Perera.
