The “Battle of Mangosteens”, between Kalutara Vidyalaya and Tissa Central College ended in an exchange of blows which resulted in the Vice captain of the Tissa Central College being hospitalised with critical injuries.
The game was held at the Surrey grounds in Maggona.
The Kalutara Vidyalaya had won the match in the last over of the match and the clash had taken place after students of the losing Tissa Central College had removed 04 stumps off the ground.
Investigations have revealed that around 4,000 students of both schools had been present at the ground.
It is said that the vice-captain of the Tissa Central College is currently being treated at the ICU of the Nagoda Hospital with critical injuries after being struck on the head.
He is to be transferred to the Colombo National Hospital as soon as possible for a special surgery, hospital sources say.
