Binura replaces injured Dilshan

Sri Lanka Cricket announces that the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 has approved Binura Fernando as a replacement for left arm fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka in the Sri Lanka squad.

Fernando who has played nine T20Is, was named as a replacement after Madushanka was ruled out due to an injury. Fernando will travel out from Sri Lanka and join the rest of the squad in Australia.

The replacement of a player requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee before the replacement player can be officially added to the squad. The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 consists of Wasim Khan, ICC General Manager – Cricket (Chair); Chris Tetley, ICC Head of Events; Peter Roach, Cricket Australia; Shane Doyle, Men’s T20 World Cup Local Organising Committee; Shaun Pollock (Independent) and Ian Bishop (Independent).

Earlier, left-arm fast bowler – Dilshan Madushanka was ruled out of the T20 World Cup after sustaining a quadriceps injury.

The 22-year-old was to share the new ball with speedster Dushmantha Chameera in today’s curtain raiser, but left the training session just four balls into his second over nursing his hip on Saturday morning.

An MRI performed had showed a right upper quadriceps muscle injury.

SL squad named for ODI series against Bangladesh

The Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee has selected the following 16-member Sri Lanka squad to play in the upcoming ODI series vs. Bangladesh. 

The ODI series will be played on the 2nd, 5th, and 8th of July. 

The first two ODIs will be played at the RPICS, Colombo, before the series moves to the PICs, Pallekele, for the final game.

Pathum Nissanka shines again with another 150

Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka continued his impressive form by scoring 150 runs off 245 balls in the first innings of the second Test against Bangladesh. His composed innings featured 18 boundaries, anchoring Sri Lanka’s strong batting display.

At stumps on Day 2, Sri Lanka stood at 297 for 2, leading Bangladesh by 50 runs with eight wickets still in hand.

Remarkably, this is Nissanka’s second consecutive 150+ score in the series, underlining his dominance with the bat and consistency at the top of the order.

Free admittance to watch 2nd Test match at SSC

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced that the public will be granted free admission to watch the second Test Match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) Grounds in Colombo.
Fans can enter the stadium via Gate Nos. 03 and 04 to enjoy the game, which is scheduled to start at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, 25 June.

This Test match is part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2025–2027 cycle.
