Bangladesh received a huge blow ahead of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka as Mushfiqur Rahim is ruled out from the series due to a fractured right thumb.

A BCB official confirmed to Cricbuzz on Tuesday that Mushfiqur Rahim’s absence from the series is due to the fracture sustained in his right thumb.

The injury occurred during the third ODI against Sri Lanka at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on March 18, prompting Rahim to undergo an MRI.

The first Test of the series is scheduled to commence on March 22 in Sylhet, followed by the second game in Chattogram starting from March 30.

Both teams arrived in Sylhet on Tuesday ahead of the opening Test.
