National Olympic Committee General Secretary Maxwell de Silva has informed the International Rugby Union in writing that the Committee will only recognize the official rugby board headed by Rizly Illyas, who was legally appointed for the administration of Sri Lanka Rugby, and will not recognize the committees appointed in any other way.

Mr. de Silva said in the letter that the International Olympic Committee and the Asian Olympic Committee do not recognize the interim committees appointed by the Ministry of Sports and that the affairs of the Sri Lanka Rugby Union should be governed by its Constitution.

He further said that the elections of the relevant associations should be held according to the National Olympic Committee and the Sports Act.

The copies of the letter have been sent to seven parties including the International Olympic Committee and the Asian Olympic Committee.

Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe dissolved the rugby administration chaired by Rizly Illyas on April 11 and appointed an interim committee for the administration of rugby .
