Overseas franchise tourneys, forbidden for SL pacers

Fast bowlers in the Sri Lankan cricket squad have been temporarily banned from going overseas for ‘franchise’ cricket tournaments, the state owned ‘Dinamina’ newspaper reports.

It is reported that Sri Lanka Cricket has decided to impose such a ban until January next year and not to issue the required No Objection Letters until then.

It is said that the SLC had taken this measure in the wake of a spate of injuries that had plagued the Sri Lankan fast bowlers of late.

In 2024 January, the Zimbabwe team will visit Sri Lanka for an ODI and T20 series, and maintaining the physical fitness of all fast bowlers has become a priority, leading to the aforementioned decision, the report states.
