The road in front of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) was temporarily closed due to a scheduled protest.

The road closure comes amid as Parliament has commenced a debate on the Joint Resolution calling for “removal of the officials including the Chairman of the corrupt Sri Lanka Cricket.”

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa tabled the resolution in Parliament on behalf of the opposition while it was seconded on the government side by Minister of Ports, Shipping & Aviation Nimal Siripala De Silva.

The vote on the resolution will be held at 5.30pm today (09).

Speaking in Parliament, Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe has said that while the debate was underway, attempts were being made to withdraw USD 2 million from an account belonging to SLC from a state bank branch in Colombo.
