A 71-year-old female resident of the Mullaitivu area has won two gold medals and one bronze medal at the Masters Athletics Championships held in the Philippines.
Akila Thirunayaki, who participated in this tournament representing Sri Lanka, won two gold medals in the 1,500 and 5,000 metre races and a bronze medal in the 800 metre races.
She has also secured fourth place in the 400 metre race. She is a resident of Mullaitivu Mulliyavalai village and she is a retired prison officer.
