Special training for SL athletics team in China

A Sri Lankan athletics team left for China on Saturday (02) to take part in a special training camp for three weeks.

The team consists of nine players along with two coaches.

Aruna Darshana, Kalinga Kumarage, Pabasara Nikoo, Rajitha Rajakaruna, Pasindu Kodikara, Dinuka Deshan, Nadisha Ramanayake, Jayeshi Uththara and Sayuri Mendis representing the 400m event joined the training.

Muddika Thushara joined the team as the coach while Vimukthi Soysa joined as the team manager.

As all these athletes are included in the Sri Lankan athletics team nominated for the Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China at the end of this month, this training camp will be a great help for the Sri Lankan athletes to achieve success in the Asian Games, experts said.

This special training camp is jointly organised by the National Olympic Committee, the Sri Lanka Athletics Association and the Chinese Athletics Federation, and sponsored by the Chinese Olympic Committee.

The athletic team joining the Asian Games is scheduled to leave for China on September 26.
