Minister of Sports Roshan Ranasinghe has revoked the gazette issued for the appointment of the Sri Lanka Rugby Stabilization Committee in April.

The gazette notification in this regard has been issued under Sections 31 and 41 of the Sports Law No. 25 of 1973.

Following uncertainty over the then Chairman of Sri Lanka Rugby and the sanctions imposed by the World and Asian Rugby governing bodies, Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe suspended the registration of the Rugby Federation of Sri Lanka on the 11th of April.

The Sports Minister by virtue of the powers vested in him under Section 32 (b) and 33 of the Sports Law No. 25 of 1973, suspended the registration of the Rugby Federation of Sri Lanka and appointed a Stabilization Committee as a temporary operational procedure in order to further maintain the functions of Sri Lanka Rugby for a period of six months.

Chula Dharmadasa was appointed as the Chairman of the nine-member committee with Shanaka Ranasinghe as the Secretary.

At the time, the committee was vested with powers to call a Special General Meeting and conduct the election of the Rugby Federation of Sri Lanka under the supervision of the Director General of the Department of Sports Development.
