Zimbabwe levels series with thrilling victory over Sri Lanka

Zimbabwe bounced back in style, leveling the T20 series 1-1 with a gripping 4-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the 2nd T20 International held today (16) at RPS in Colombo. 

The teams now stand at one win each in the three-match series, with the eagerly awaited decider scheduled for 18th January.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Zimbabwe executed a strategic game plan to restrict Sri Lanka to a total of 176 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the initial 20 overs. 

Charith Asalanka was the standout performer for Sri Lanka, 69 runs off 39 balls, while Angelo Mathews contributed a solid 66 runs off 51 balls.

In a nail-biting second half, Zimbabwe successfully chased down the target, reaching 178 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. 

Craig Erwine played a pivotal role in the victory, scoring an impressive 70 runs off 54 balls, with Luke Jongwe adding 25 runs off 12 balls.

Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana and Dushmantha Chameera showcased their bowling prowess, with Theekshana taking 2 wickets in 25 balls and Chameera supporting him with another 2 wickets in 30 balls.

The thrilling encounter sets the stage for a high-stakes finale as both teams eye victory in the third and final T20 match scheduled for 18th January. 

Cricket enthusiasts can expect a fierce battle as Zimbabwe concludes its Tour of Sri Lanka with what promises to be an unforgettable clash between these two competitive sides.

Chongqing gears up for 25th Lijia International Intelligent Equipment expo

The international internet celebrity city of Chongqing in China will host a grand equipment manufacturing industry event – the 25th Lijia International Intelligent Equipment Exhibition 2025 next month.

Ex-President Ranil to appear before CIABOC today

Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe is scheduled to appear before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) today (April 28) at 9.30 a.m.

He has been summoned to record a statement over the statement he had made on MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake.

Former President Wickremesinghe, who was initially summoned to the CIABOC on April 17 but requested a postponement. He had requested a date after April 27th to appear before CIABOC, citing that his lawyer Ronald Perera is currently abroad.

Announcement for 2024 A/L exam candidates

The Department of Examinations announced today (April 28) that facilities have been made available for all school and private candidates of 2024 (2025) G.C.E. Advance Level Examination to access their examination results sheets online.

Accordingly, candidates can now download or monitor their Result Schedules by visiting https://onlineexams.gov.lk/eic and entering their National Identity Card (NIC) number.

Results are also accessible via the Department’s official websites: www.doenets.lk and www.results.exams.gov.lk

School principals have also been provided with access to download and print the result sheets for their respective schools using the usernames and passwords assigned during the application submission process.

Furthermore, Provincial and Zonal Education Directors can download and monitor the results of all schools within their jurisdictions through the same online platform, utilizing their designated login credentials.

The Department also notes that printed copies of examination results for schools will be issued to principals after the release of the re-scrutinized results.

Meanwhile, applications for re-scrutiny of results can be submitted online through https://onlineexams.gov.lk/eic between May 02, 2025 – May 16, 2025.
