2 killed as Myanmar police disperse protestors Featured

At least two people have been killed in protests in Myanmar against a military coup, the worst violence yet in more than two weeks of demonstrations, BBC reports.

Police used live ammunition to disperse demonstrators in the Myanmar city of Mandalay and at least 20 people were injured, the BBC adds, citing ground reports.

Hundreds had gathered for the rally at a shipyard in Myanmar's second largest city.

Social media posts claim that 'snipers' were used not only on the protestors, but also on ambulances and volunteers helping the injured. Posts also allege that iron spikes and stones were also thrown into the crowds which were also tear gassed.

Protesters are demanding the release of Aung San Suu Kyi' along with other members of her National League for Democracy (NLD) party.
