The Court No. 06 of the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court was closed due to a wedding ceremony of a stenographer inconveniencing many people who arrived for court proceedings yesterday (1).
It was reported that all the court staff had attended the stenographer’s wedding.
A notice has been put up outside the courtroom saying “No petitions will be taken up in Court No. 06 today. By order of the court”.
Meanwhile, during an inquiry made by the media, the Chief Registrar of the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has said that the staff of Court No. 6 had gone on leave to attend a wedding ceremony.
Usually, the petitions should be filed before 9 in the morning. However, due to this situation, the lawyers were given the opportunity to file petitions until 11 am yesterday.
Petitions of court No. 06 were taken up in court No. 02 last afternoon.
