The Development Lotteries Board has decided to transport the lottery tickets bought daily by a large number of people across the country, by train.

Officials of the Railways Department and officials of the Development Lottery Board have discussed this during a meeting held with Minister of Transport, Highways and Mass Media Dr. Bandula Gunawardana yesterday (19).

Minister Gunawardena said maintaining a sound relationship among governmental institutions will be beneficial to all parties. He said the new programme will increase the revenue of the Railways Department and reduce the cost of transporting the lottery tickets of the Development Lotteries Board via other modes of transport.

Officials related to the Railways Department including railway controllers, drivers and station masters will give their fullest support to make this national programme a success, and since the Railways Department has the ability to transport goods covering all parts of the country, similar agreements will be made to transport goods with other parties in the future, the minister said.
