Horana factory fire: Two firefighters injured, One building destroyed

හොරණ HDDES කර්මාන්ත ශාලා ගින්න නිවන්න ගිය ගිනි බටයින් 2ක් රෝහලේ

හොරණ ආයෝජන කලාපයේ පිහිටි, ආයෝජන මණ්ඩලයේ අනුමැතිය ලත්, HDDES සමූහයෙ හි කර්මාන්ත ශාලාවක හටගත් ගින්න මේ වන විට මැඩපවත්වා තිබේ. හොරණ නගර සභාවේ ගිනි නිවීම් ඒකකය සඳහන් කළේ, කුරුඳු තෙල් හා සුවද විලවුන් නිෂ්පාදනය කරන කර්මාන්ත ශාලාවක ගින්න හටගෙන ඇති බවයි. ගින්න මැඩපැවැත්වීමේදි ගිනි නිවන භටයින් දෙදෙනෙකු තුවාල ලබා හොරණ රෝහලට ඇතුළත් කර තිබේ. ස්වසන අපහසුතා හේතුවෙන් කර්මාන්ත ශාලාවේ සේවකයෙකු රෝහල් ගත කර තිබේ. ඊයේ පස්වරු 4.30ට පමණ හටගත් ගින්න මැඩපවත්වා ඇත්තේ අද අලුයම 2.00 ට පමණයි. හොරණ නගර සභාවේ ගිනි නිවීම් ඒකකය සඳහන් කළේ, ගින්න මැඩ පැවැත්වීම සඳහා සේවා රථ 10ක් පමණ යොදා ගත් බවයි. ගින්නෙන් අදාළ කර්මාන්ත ශාලාවේ ගොඩනැගිලි 03කට හානි සිදුව ඇති අතර එක් ගොඩනැගිල්ලක් සම්පුර්ණයෙන් විනාශවි තිබේ. HDDES සමූහය, AURA හදුන්කුරූ, මදුරු කොයිල්, කුරුදු සහ තවත් අපනයන නිශ්පාදන සිය ගණනක් නිෂ්පාදනය කරන සමාගමකි.

A fire that broke out at a HDDES factory in the Horana Investment Zone has been successfully contained.

The Horana Municipal Council Fire Brigade reported that the blaze occurred at a factory producing cinnamon oil and fragrances.

Two firefighters sustained injuries while battling the fire and have been admitted to Horana Hospital.

Additionally, a factory worker was hospitalized due to respiratory difficulties.

The fire, which started around 4:30 PM yesterday, was brought under control by approximately 2:00 AM today.

The Horana Fire Brigade utilized around 10 fire engines to contain the blaze.

Three buildings of the factory were damaged, with one building completely destroyed.

HDDES Group is a company that manufactures AURA Incense Sticks, Mosquito Coils, Cinnamon Organic and Conventional Essential oils and hundreds of other export products.

CID probe launched over photo of tooth relic

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has launched an investigation into a photo circulating on social media, allegedly showing the sacred tooth relic during the ongoing special exposition – ‘Siri Dalada Vandanawa’ in Kandy.

According to Police Headquarters, the circulating image is seemingly an image taken by a devotee who attended the exposition, which is being held until April 27.

The police emphasises that devotees are not permitted to take photos or use their phones.

In this backdrop, the CID is investigating to ascertain whether the circulating photo was indeed taken during the ‘Siri Dalada Vandanawa’ exposition, and whether it was a photo captured by someone or whether it is merely an edited image.

The CID investigation has been launched on the instructions of the Acting Inspector General of Police.

Brazilian nabbed at BIA with cocaine worth Rs. 240 mn.

A Brazilian national was arrested by the Narcotics Control Unit at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) early this (April 20) morning over attempting to smuggle nearly 05 kg of cocaine concealed in his suitcase.

The suspect is a 59-year-old Brazilian teacher and the seized cocaine (4kg and 855g) is valued around Rs. 240 million.
