Tax on several food imports, upped

The government has announced an increase in taxes on certain imported goods, effective from October 14 to December 31, 2024.

Under the new regulations, a tax of 25 cents per kilogram will be imposed on Mysore and yellow lentils (whole and split).

Also, a special commodity levy of Rs. 302 per kilogram has been imposed on maldive fish while a tax of 10% or Rs. 400 per kilogram will be imposed on frozen fish, excluding de-boned fish and other processed fish.
