Dr. Harsha Gunasekara, Consultant Neurologist at the Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital, says that 01 out of every 04 persons over the age of 25, is at risk of having a stroke.
Speaking at a press conference held yesterday (25) he said that there is a 25% possibility of a relapse after having a stroke once.
Currently, it is reported that there are about 200,000 stroke patients in Sri Lanka.
Weakness or numbness of the face, arm or leg, slurred speech are among symptoms of a stroke.
Medical experts urge all above 35 to visit Suwa Divi Medical centres around the country and get themselves tested for this condition.
