Two fishermen have been hospitalised with serious injuries yesterday (Nov. 21) after a parcel that had been floating in the coast off Mannar had exploded.
Manna police say that the victims, who were fishing in the area, had attempted to inspect the parcel when it suddenly detonated.
The fishermen, both aged 37 years, are residents of the Pannankattu area in Mannar.
Police suspect that the explosion might have been caused by an illegal explosive device used for fishing.
