National People’s Power (NPP) presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake has expressed concerns over recent ministerial appointments just 30 days before the Presidential Election.
Dissanayake questioned the motive behind appointing Vadivel Suresh and Ali Sahir Maulana as ministers, suggesting that their access to government vehicles and fuel could enable them to participate in election campaigns using state resources.
He pointed out that Ali Sahir Maulana’s appointment followed the removal of Nazir Ahamed from parliament.
Dissanayake criticized President Ranil Wickremesinghe for making these appointments during the election period, particularly while delaying the appointment of a new Police Chief, accusing Wickremesinghe of using state funds and resources for electoral advantage.
